The busy worklife of today's senior managers often does not allow for attendance at traditional development training courses and workshops.   Or it may be that the issue is so sensitive that it is felt that utilising the experience and confidentiality of an external consultant will help to resolve difficult workplace issues.  It is also often used as an intervention for personal career development of the manager. 

 'Executive Coaching' allows for one-on-one focused dialogue with the manager to sort through these types of issues.  It can be done through a face-to-face meeting, through telephone conversations, via e-mail or a combination of all of these.
